What is "ugly"?

I can't walk around my highschool without hearing people say someone else is ugly. I've never looked at someone and thought "oh dang, they ugly." I don't like that word in general. The only thing I've ever actually called ugly is a person's personality.

Beauty is and always will be subjective. Just as ugly is subjective. I find hatred and cruelty to me ugly. But I have trouble calling others ugly. There's always someone out there attracted to something on someone.

I agree, a horrible personality can be more unattractive than someone's physical features. Looks to me the high schoolers whom are calling others ugly have that unattractive personality.

At that age I find they don't really realize how hurtful or damaging those words are. Sadly its normalization of such words that people really don't think anything if it. When I was that age I called people fat ugly stupid this and that. I didn't really stop and think about it.

Ugly is what people with low self esteem have to call others to feel superior.
And I'm happy to read that there are teen girls who are not as superficial as fecesbook and instagram want them to become, please stay like this! :)
