Do we have any golfers here tonight?

I finally went into one of those play it again sports store's. They sell used sports equipment. I saw a black Callaway golf bag with white lettering for $39. It looked bran new. Is that a good price? I thought that stuff was expensive.

Well, I'd like to say I'm a golfer, except all my shots slice 90 degrees.

You can find some great bargains used, if the bags in decent condition it sounds like a steal. I think callaway's one of the big names. Clubs are where I'd think you'd need careful consideration, though.

@Stereoguy: lol.. It's just as well then, Bagger Vance said it was a game that can only be played, never won..just a series of constant improvement and character building.

@Stereoguy: I think it depends on the person, I think its a game that if your not long on patience and have a healthy attitude, you can really get bent out of shape. A lot of club throwing and cursing. Either that, or you get hit by lightning.

The golf course is a place of aesthetic beauty, though. And there's nothing quite like the feel of a ball sailing off the tip of your club on a well done shot, careening out straight for a time then suddenly climbing heaven ward like a butterfly with sore feet.

@Stereoguy: Majority of my experience is confined to the driving range, and is very limited. Neither am I long on patience or very skilled/knowledgeable in the game. But I think a good start would be to go with a buddy one day, think you can even rent clubs. (FL and SC, GA--Augusta!- have some amazing courses!) You may want to sign up for a few lessons and theres good videos/golfing aids.

I suspect, its not a skill that comes quickly/naturally to most and may be an aquired taste.

Wish I could play.

@Stereoguy: Wow! Those are some incredible courses, maintained impeccably. There's some very fine country clubs, Young, my friends and I would sneak onto their private greens and mess around--they get pretty angry, lol!! Beautiful place.

The club pro would be a good place to start .

@Stereoguy: Yeah, ease into it. Dont buy anything just yet. Its really nice to do it as a couple too.

That makes perfect sense. Winter = vactioning/timeshare snowbirds, and the weather is not 100 degrees and 100% humidity so you're not going to die before the 18th hole.

In arizona, courses close in the summer apparently...starts hitting 111 plus. They just got 120 in Phoenix last week.

Thats insanity, I dont mind the warmth , but gosh! I'm not sure which is harder too stand, dry-blast furnace heat of Nevada/AZ or wet blank humidity + heat of TN, FL, LA

Thats good, yeah. Being on the coast vs central like Orlando helps. Desert heat is like a hairdryer in the face, feels like you're smothering!

@Stereoguy: Wow. I was in Kissamee, which I think is near Orlando and it was 85% humidity by 8 am. Great for beach goers/water park, but oh my!!

I liked the weather in D.C better!

@Stereoguy: Did you see our snowfall last year? We got burried. Yeah, last night it was 50 degrees and has dropped close to 40 some overnights. we are getting alot of rain in the region and not much summer.
