I dont find anything funny in a child taking abuse from their mentally unstable mother.

I have to there was nothing funny about growing up around my Mom
but i will give you the post was stupid in hind sight
I only read the post not who made it ,
I hoped our last conversation we were at least past the petty stuff

I am about to fix that problem
but the post was about "loopy parents "
my Mom took the cake ,but I was not exploiting that ,just responding to a post with humor about something you are right ,was not funny at all

@rckt148: I didn't actually see anything funny in what you said, I'm not sure what exactly the joke was you were trying to make. We can make fun of our nutty parents sure enough. A nutty mother eh? Yeah I got one of them. Not much fun at all.

4 of us in a tiny room so we could take care of Mom 14 months until she passed and I took care of my Dad 3 yrs until his
I paid their bills while also keeping up my own home across the state
I was a good Grandson and son
now I am a good Dad and Grandfather
SO I have paid my dues ,,and earned the right to say what I want
at least I was there when the ones she spoiled were not ,
and I paid her bills ,,all she left was a 185.000.00 debt on a home my Dad had paid off when he died ,,
I gave it all to the bank and went home
my job was done
I sure as hell gave better then I ever got

You're a good son. Like I am. I know my sister is sure as hell not going to look after our mother when she's old and demented. Nope. It'll be me, because I'm a good son. My sister uses my mother when its convenient for her and my mother LOVES being useful, which is why she doesn't love me, because I dont crave anything from her, and my mother only finds love and validation through being 'useful' or used. Sick aint it.

@Allelse: no my brothers could not help me put a roof on my parents home but one sure had no trouble talking it off to sell it for scrap metal ,
she put her home up so many times getting them out of jail she no longer had to bring the deed ,,they just put a certified copy in their records
my Mom died because she stopped taking her liver meds ,,1 week with out them she turned orange and organs started shutting down
they stole all her pain meds and she was going through withdraw ,,
so she said enough was enough ,stopped taking her meds ,,,
she was right ,one week she was dead
it bothered the youngest so much he killed himself
the other one nothing bothers him ,,,
he is the one who took off the roof and trashed the house so bad the bank tore it down

Bloody hell.....And I thought I got stuck with rotten siblings. I mean my brother is not a bad persons, he's just spineless.

Bloody hell! So the younger brother didn't care enough to come around to help, but he killed himself after she passed away?

This must have been awful for you I'm so sorry!

And no wonder, a week of all that toxic crap building up inside of her and not being processed I've seen photos of that. I'm trying to think of the word for it.

they did her dirty ,,but she is the one who spoiled them
she beat hell out of me and my 1/2 brother ,,
but we are vets ,they were convicts
the one who killed himself was 50 ,,only worked 2 yrs of his life
the other one has spent 18 yrs of his life in prison
so yea ,a Mom like mine was hell ,but I loved her in spite of her
she said she made a man out of me ,she did
I joined the service and got the hell out of her house
I only came back to help her and Dad
they NEVER had to carry me

So not only was she a little bonkers but she played favorites?

I know that feeling. My sister treats her like crap and she's the favorite. As for Dad well he's just a wild dog who was a violent, abusive, alcoholic who has since mellowed while my mother has become more erratic. One Christmas Dad tried suffocating me. I'm not even entirely sure what he was doing. He was yelling and screaming at me, going off about how I hadn't done my Tae Kwon Doe practice. I ran into the kitchen and went at him with the kitchen knife. I was 9 or 10.

@Allelse: mine tried to kill me the week after grandma died for not crying ,,
she said I was going to get sick if I didn't cry
my grandpa broke the door down and took me home with him
but after a year I missed my brothers ,I came back
they found out after I was in service she had thyroid cancer ,,they took it out and she changed ,so part of her problem was medical
her kidneys shut down 5 yrs before she died ,so she was on dialysis ,,
I took care of her 8 months after Dad died until she got His social security ,,then when she started missing her dialysis and went into congestive heart failure a few times I moved in ,,we kept her going for 14 months ,,
then I had to have tests run on me for cancer ,and my brothers basically killed her ,,,I rushed home to watch her die

How many brothers do you have?

Yeah my mother went ballistic at me for not crying at her mother's funeral. I loved my Nana but she was 83 years old and had enough of life, her passing was such a relief for her! I was glad for her! I mean, for a while there we didn't think she was going to make it past 75 but she kept going on and on! And I miss my Nana still. She was great! I remember watching horror movies with her, eating sausages for lunch and talking about books we'd both read. But because I didn't burst into tears my mother decided in her mind that I was a cruel, selfish monster.

Yeah I was about to say, you better keep an eye on yourself. I'm lucky, no cancer in my family, just stroke and heart attack oh and epilepsy which I had undiagnosed for about 7 years while everyone I spoke to, doctors included, tried to convince me it was 'all in my head'.

@Allelse: I have /had 2 and a 1/2 brother ,he has not spoken to any of us since Dad died ,He hated my Mom with a passion and I stuck up for her ,so
I have a bone disease ,,had 3 heart attacked ,a collapsed lower lobe of my left lung ,so yea ,I am blessed to still be going ,
but I am blessed and going and going and going I do LOL
my son is 9 ,,I hope to see him graduate and maybe marry
after that ,I am ready for a dirt nap
I will have done my job
