How many ways are there to remove a tree stump. I have one in the backyard, it was from a large silver maple that was cut down a few years ago. I've been chopping on it with a hatchet for about 30 minutes in the mornings, got most of it but there's still work to be done.

Stump grinder would be ideal if I wanted to spend a lot of money on it.

Easiest way involves Detcord..
That's a little bit rough on the neighbors and when the SWAT team shows up at your house they get a little bit concerned. if it's small enough most people dig them out and put them out with a tractor or truck. Then again probably the easiest method of all is to call a tree service to come and grind the stump out

We dug around it, loosened it up until we could get a chain under it and pulled it out with the truck.. I've pulled a smaller one out with my four wheeler..

You can rent a stump grinder from Home Depot for a couple hours, it isn't that pricey.

Mr.Brownstone: The guys that cut the tree down drilled about 4 holes and probably put some of that in it...they should have drilled about a dozen holes, it's been several years and didn't rot out completely. I've been chipping away on it this month with hatchet...got most of it that was sticking up but then there'll be the roots and the stump that is below the dirt. I just go out there and whack on it with the hatchet in the early morning when I need to release some stress.

You can buy a product at Home Depot. I don't remember the name of it. It's a stump remover that kills it from the inside. You drill some holes in the stump and pour it in.

Sharks with laser beams attached to their head. That's the answer to everything.
^ that's also my response when I have no clue what I'm talking about or what to do in that situation.

You don't want to unless you're going to plow. Maybe pour creosote on it and burn out the rest.

In that case, pour a little bit of gasoline down the hole and set it on fire. But be careful you don't set anything else on fire.
Grind it, pull it, sculpt it, cut it down to ground level with chainsaw..
