Animals can be vicious creatures, so why do most people recognize they're better than most people?

Because humans have the choice to not be vicious
@mic11225: Do humans have a choice if they live in ignorance? For example, a child brought up in a room where they were taught to torture bugs and laugh about it. If that's all they know and were taught torturing bugs was the right thing to do, do they really have a choice?

@mic11225: I sort of think of the psychos that run the world like that. They belong to this weirdo cult that's like an echo chamber and anyone who disagrees, gets killed. So ignorance really runs this world.
