@theowl: Nah. Left school and instead of turning one way and joining the Royal Navy; Training in something useful; taking part in the Falklands conflict; possibly receiving several training courses; possibly rising through the ranks; possibly having a career from which i might have been able to retire at 50.
I went the other way !
Different career; countless different posts; several different places; promoted so far but because i didn't want to be a 'paper-pusher' couldn't go any further; one lousy marriage; stress, stress, stress, insufficient funding for my pension..........
