Can being way too nice and passive cause you to lose friends?

That's what has been happening to me. My friends say if I can't be honest with my feelings and keep sugarcoating and agreeing to protect our feels then we shouldn't be friends. How can they say that? It seems like mean people have more friends than nice passive people.

Probably. Some people don't want to be seen or be friends with a doormat. Just some people don't like people like me. Someone who is always aggressive and or mean. Oh well. There are bigger tragedies in the world.
