What would you pick cat or dog to be your pet?

Cats, they're more independent. Since I live on my own and am gone a lot a dog would be too much work. Getting up at 5 to let it out to dump and pee isn't worth it, cats you don't have to worry about that plus I don't have a fenced in backyard which is another strike against owning a dog.
