I lived in Vanuatu, in the South Pacific, for seven years, and we would get regular earthquakes there. Biggest was an 8.1 during the time I was there. I saw a Toyota duel cab utility truck bounce about 50m down the street, and my shed move up and down about three meters in the air. Had about four in the high 7's. The quakes were a problem in themselves and then you had the tsunami threat for the next few hours too. Good times.

Pretty close. I'm in Los Angeles. The last big one was the Northridge quake in 94 and we are apparently overdue for another big one.
