Cold approaching women does work if you're attractive!

I don't think so but it's not shocking that you'd suspect that.

That's the crux of the matter... It's hot if the guy doing it is hot, if he is below average then the reaction tends to be one of revulsion.
Women are just as visually motivated as men at times, and just as superficial.

@ForeverPink: You only have to read men's forums to hear stories of men cold approaching women and getting their phone numbers and them being valid phone numbers.

I don't know what 'cold approaching' is but I assume it isn't screaming "Oi show us your tits!" Out of a moving vehicle lol. The drive by ones confuse me the most. Even if I wanted to there's no way I could exchange numbers with them or anything.

@StrangePaleGirl: Cold approaching would for example, be going up to someone in a bar and offering to buy them a drink.

Well that's not cat calling at all then. That's just being normal, and approaching a woman in a normal way.

@StrangePaleGirl: Oh no, you are right, that's not cat-calling. But Tynamite brought up the subject of catcalling, and there are some parallels between the two. Attention that may or may not be wanted dependant upon the attractiveness of the person doing it, for example.
If an ugly guy cat-calls or cold approaches he will be blown out, if a hot guy does it then it's deemed far more acceptable by the target of his interest.

@Quizzical: I've seen women flirting with men who catcalled them because they were attractive.

@tynamite: It's all dependant on how it is received, one persons's 'cheeky' is another person's 'highly offensive'.

It is to do with delivery a little too. True, there are some women who would be offended no matter how something was worded. I consider myself to be nuetral. I'm not a 'cheeky' or flirty person and I'm not a really easily offended person either. I've been catcalled in ways that have been creepy and threatening, and I've had men walk up and compliment my appearance in a way that has made my day. I'll always remember a man walking up to me in a library and telling me he thought I was 'extremely beautiful' and just wanted me to know. I had a boyfriend at the time, otherwise I may have given him my number. He wasn't my type physically but the compliment made my day, and he delivered it in a very respectful way.
