Do you remember a time when women were easily pleased ... ?

In some ways I envy 50's housewives. There wasn't as much freedom but there wasn't as much pressure either. Most women I know today still do most of the household tasks and cooking, but we also work. Or if we don't work then there's a million tonnes of pressure on us to work. Most households can't survive on a single income any more, so we have to. In that case should the housework be evenly divided? Because often when it is 50/50 people seem to perceive the woman as being lazy or selfish, just because people still cling to the idea of 'the good old days'.
If the pressure was removed and it was just sort of a given that we were going to stay at home and take care of our partners and children then it would be easier to find joy in things like this...
Sorry for the long reply. I am not offended or 'butthurt'. I just like discussing things.
And anyway I'm pretty easily pleased.

Well i especially love the style from then too. I'm a vintage lover.
I feel like modern women have the worst of both worlds. Everyone expects us to be fierce and independent, and judges us accordingly. But then everyone also expects us to be perfect partners and wives :/
We are judged for being too feminine, not feminine enough, too passive, not passive enough. Urgh. It would be nice to just know what I was meant to be doing the way women back then knew.

@Nimbus: where is my dishwasher?

@Kuronekko: At the store?

I was happy when I got a washer/dryer in my house...it sucks to have to drive to town to do laundry and you don't have a lot of clothes. There were times I'd hand-wash clothes and let me tell you scrubbing blue jeans will blister your hands like nothing else.

I know someone who prefers to still use a ringer 😂 She's very old
Nimbus · M
Indeed.
