In the majority of people, they are focused more on material means to satisfy them, rather than acknowledge that they are spiritual beings having a human experience for the purpose of evolving spiritually. People ridicule what they have yet to understand and experience for themselves.

Spirituality may take us to different dimensions, but science helps us conquer this one.

Spirituality is a lot of work, where as science and technology others do the work for you.

There's always been a wave, and there always will. Some years or decades with high focus on spirituality, and some years or decades with high focus on science. So I wouldn't say always.

Either way, I'd say it's because science leads to progress, while spirituality leads to... not much.
