It's probably just due to exposure to societies that aren't as deeply religious. The pressure isn't there to uphold tradition, they feel more comfortable questioning their beliefs, science is praised as the main way of knowing why things are the way they are... I don't know if any of this makes sense, I'm sort of spacing out right now. Hopefully you get what I mean.
