I don't try. I just hope they are not going to do the job.

Several years ago, on EP, there was a young woman who was threatening suicide. All the people she communicated with were in North America, except for one friend who lived in Australia with her.
So much sympathy and prayers were offered. The whole story was just too heart breaking. Then, after a year or so,,there was a message from her friend in Australia saying she had done it. She killed herself after logging off the night before. I was never sure she was for real.

I still think she and her so called friend were the same person. She got tired of the game and "killed" herself so she could move on to something else.

You can say something encouraging to try and keep them online, but actually stopping them, I'm not sure that can be done.

All we can do is empathize and say something helpful and listen, if any of that prevents a suicide, then that is how.

yes i have done this and was very serious im just glad no one said dumb shit or i woulda went through with it
Was it not you that posted last week of a pier and the charge your cell phone had?
