The way I see it, "real life" relationships are no more genuine than online ones, it is just harder for people to fool each other.

yep ive been fooled a bit online with people. not sure why people make themselves out to be things they arent.

@theowl: with net personas there are two main choices - either be the most authentic you there is or a big fake.

because in a lot of it online isnt reality. people get drawn in and they lose the ability to form interactions with people in the real world. its so easy online to make friends and cut them off as they get bored or to become self absorbed.

thats true and a lot more easier for people just to fool around without having any commitments.
