I feel like social media improves my ability to have relationships. I keep in touch with people and meet new ones. Nowadays face to face talk is even common.

might be because you are a girl you get a lot more attention. one it has for me is made it easier for me to communicate just because im such a mute in real life. ive also learned that online friendships dont last long.

@Doomflower: thanks 🙃

@theowl: Most don't. I do however have relationships that have lasted years!

You remember Open Diary? I have friends from there. I have one friend I met and know online for the last 11 years.

wow. most people i know just stop communicating after a while. never heard of open diary, im actually only on a couple of websites as im not exactly a fan of social media. so i kind of limit myself to online things or apps. its still nice when you do find genuine people tho.

@theowl: Oh do you find it easier to write than to speak? I prefer writing much of the time because I can look at what I am saying and make sure it is clear.

People say text doesn't show emotions but THAT'S NOT TRUE! I can add emphasis with a little effort. It is fairly easy to see when I am not sure... or when I am pausing between thoughts...

@theowl: open diary was one of the earliest Journaling sites. I think it has been down since .... 2011? Maybe even earlier than that.

its so much more easier for me to type out my thoughts than it is to talk to people. im extremely introverted. well sometimes people type out poorly choice words that can get people mad or maybe confuse people by what they mean. i mean if you write fuck off mother fucker im pretty sure that has emotions to it. the only thing that gets me about online is how much of it, the relationships people have online has become just sexual or that you are just one of many people that they talk to so youll eventually just stop communicating at some point as the person might just become bored or just push away as they have so many other people to talk to.

yeah seems like social media sites have like a shelf life of a few years before they shut down. some of them become dating sites. seen a couple of social media sites become one. i was on spring.me a Q and A site that became the dating site twoo. my yearbook became meet.me.
Doomflower · 41-45, M
@theowl: that happens most of the time.

The way I see it, "real life" relationships are no more genuine than online ones, it is just harder for people to fool each other.

yep ive been fooled a bit online with people. not sure why people make themselves out to be things they arent.

@theowl: with net personas there are two main choices - either be the most authentic you there is or a big fake.
