Is it selfish for one to not want to celebrate their own birthday?

Let's say someone's family and friends want to do something special for that person's birthday and get them gifts but they don't want to do anything nor do they want any gifts so they tell them not to do anything for them. Would you consider that selfish?

[c=#BF0080]I have never heard anyone describe that the same as I would and do. I go through it every year. Last year I was on a family vacation and specifically as usual asked my family to not do anything. They picked up a cake and sent my kids and nephew to con me into going upstairs. I told the kids they could go upstairs and share my piece. I stayed in my room on my bday, all night to avoid it and any other bday attention. I'm done thinking it's selfish to do what others want me to do on my bday. [/c]
