There was a girl I was cool with on periscope and she turned out to be fake and she disappeared on me. I was really bummed. I considered her a friend. Why do people create fake profiles and stories online?

There's a show on mtv called Catfish and it is based on the host of the show's experience with a woman who posed as a sexy younger woman who's parents died from cancer. yet she turned out to be in her 40s and living with two kids with special needs.
