No. I think it should be acceptable to simply show up at the reception to get drunk.

Not really. I usually dislike one or the other of the couple. I am usually quite aware that I'm only invited so they can get the gift, frequently ordered on the invitation.

I usually get bored really fast at weddings. Maybe it would be different if someone I actually knew and was close to was getting married, but the ones I went to were boring.
