@crossproduct: I don't smoke cigarettes lol. I smoke cannabis every now and then but not very often. I smoke peyote/mescaline and opium though.

I didn't know you could smoke peyote!

@crossproduct: Oh yeah, that's been around for centuries. The American Indians are best known for doing it and having introduced mescaline to the Europeans when they came to the Americas. It's most often smoked through a large wooden pipe.

I learn something new every day. Peyote is not something you see here, even though it's legal (I think). How does it compare to acid and shrooms?

@crossproduct: Oh it's much more mild. Acid makes me trip hard, and shrooms make me trip REALLY hard, probably more intense than anything else, save for sawdust. Peyote is still mildly hallucinogenic but not unless you smoke a decent amount of it, and even then, it's not like you're tripping balls and hearing and seeing shit. It's more like colors seem really intensified or sounds echo slightly. The most common effect for me is that my sense of smell is massively increased, which is why I most often smoke peyote before eating something tasty, like pancakes or a large dessert, or I spend time in my garden while high smelling flowers and rainwater.

It sounds nice, actually. Acid was really brutal and harsh and chemical. I liked shrooms better but they were hard to find and harder to eat. I haven't used any psychedelics in decades and I kind of feel like it's time for another spirit quest because there's been a lot of shit that's happened between then and now that needs unclogging.

@crossproduct: Acid can be extremely harsh and artificial if it's low quality of poorly synthesized substance. Finding good acid is difficult sometimes but it's exponentially better than the more common stuff.

@BlueMetalChick: yeah, where I lived you basically got what there was, if you could get anything at all. It was always crappy and of completely random strength.
