What was the biggest lie you were told?

I was told my entire childhood that my abusive step dad was my real father. He was abusive mentally, physically and even said stuff like he didn’t love me. He would actually tell me that. It was extremely difficult finding out it was a lie. I wish someone had just told me the truth

I never understood why I was such a fuck up that my own dad would beat me and insult me until I had an eating disorder and tell me he didn’t love me

Just tell your kids the truth damn

@DeluxedEdition I'm really sorry. You deserved so much better than that. This critical input into your self-image was completely false, coming from a distorted person. You were just a beautiful young girl who deserved to be loved, admired, someone to take pride in you, delight in you and everything you did, to be a mirror that showed you were everything you needed to be: you. Through all your mistakes also - like most girls if you were moody or this or that - that this didn't change the delight in you.
I hope you can untangle his influence enough to see clearly - I mean really feel the things about yourself you deserved. Easily said, usually takes some time.

I don’t know why they have children either honestly
