But all societies are now in peril due to climate change and the costs of increasingly frequent and severe weather events - catastrophes that leave devastation on vast scales.

I don’t know. Perhaps things will get worse before they get better, people generally only change when on the precipice. Everyone seems angry, there is still fighting everywhere, economic depression everywhere, and the planet is being damaged.
