Ever eat expired food? I'm making expired potato soup mix

It expired on the 5th and today is the 8th so it's no big deal. It's a dry mix anyway

Often. Yogurts and other dairy products are usually okay for much long than their best-before date.
Not to mention "eat right after you open it. " Or "eat within a week after opening" Yeah...sure...😆

@CrazyMusicLover Went with a yogurt that was expired by one week or so, last summer, and it tasted like Gorgonzola blue cheese.

1/10 wouldn't recommend. Or at least have some salami with it

(As a general rule you're right tho lol)

@Elessar Maybe you still have natural dairy products over there. 😳 I tried curd that was over a month after expiration date and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. At least seemingly. 😅 At times like that I actually wonder if these products are safe to eat in general.

@CrazyMusicLover This occurred with a Lattebusche yogurt if I remember well, I don't know if they arrive over there too? Otherwise I have Mueller ones that taste nice too but I don't think are made with actual milk (powdered probably) 😅

@CrazyMusicLover I think it was a problem with that one specific jar anyway. In general I have them one week or so after their expiration too and they're perfect

@Elessar I never heard about Lattebusche. I bought Mueller once and it was so disgusting that I never did again. 😅 It wasn't yogurt, it was a rice dessert and it was oversweetened and tasted like plastic a lot. All dairy products packed in plastic taste like plastic but this was even more than usual.

@Elessar I didn't try their yogurts yet. 😅 Didn't dare to.
This is what I had.

@CrazyMusicLover What is that, rice? I wouldn't have that one either 😅

The "yogurt" is as you've described, oversweetened, feels more like a dessert than actual yogurt. But bear in mind I'm not a huge fan of acidic tastes so that's why I may like it.

@CrazyMusicLover This is what I was thinking of:

* (And I remembered wrong, it's actually marketed as yogurt 🤔)

@Elessar That doesn't look bad. I also don't like acidic yogurts but it makes me feel like I eat something healthier. 😆 I eat plain ones with homemade jams.
Otherwise I prefer those a bit sweeter mixed curd or rice desserts. There used to be rice dessert with sour jam (rote grütze) that was amazing. But I don't remember which brand it was.

@CrazyMusicLover There is a farm ~30mins from my place where I bought some they made themselves from scratch, minus for the syrup/flavor I suppose. They also had blank ones. Those were good, but buffalo milk instead of cow; the difference in taste isn't extreme (idk if you ever tried goat milk, I made hot chocolate with it once and it ended down the sink 😬), but still noticeable a bit.

But even having tried the artisanal ones, yogurt isn't something I notice too much the quality of. Cheese, bread, meat, fish definitely, I can spot the local stuff from the market ones even blindfolded, but yogurt is probably something I have so seldom that I don't know that well 👀

Ohh so rice/yogurt desserts are a thing, it's not just that Muller one. 😅 I never tried them
