I bet that the same people who never tip are the same people who always want help from their friends, but never repay the favor.

Like the same, cheap people who say to either get a different job or that the job should pay their employees more and the employees shouldn't expect tips are the same folks who will expect their friends to bend over backwards for them. But the second their friends ask for help they'll come up with every and any excuse to not help.
