Was I rude?

So I was talking to. A colleague and I was saying that I was nervous about dying my hair. This is a person who dyes her hair pink.
As you know I've already gone blonde and I've also gone red. But after discussion with 'him' we've decided that I should go Ginger. Also I've never dyed the whole head only sections.
She did ask me how long it will take and I said 3 hours and she said it was the same for her too.

Anyways I mentioned that my partner is ginger and Bruno being a Boston terrier and brown we would be matching. But I also said he said we'd be the outcast crew!
She didn't say anything in response to that but I get the feeling that some people might think I'm racist... Since I'm the minority in the workplace.

When I didnt mean it maliciously, it was meant to be a little joke!

With hindsight I probably shouldn't have said that.
