In Your Opinion, The Most Overrated, Well Known Rock Band Is....

@graphite More of a movement than a band of enduring talent....only ONE album, which was overhyped.
Even an athlete with a great start never makes the Hall in their sport, because talent over time is important to that honor.

@DragonFruit I’m not sure I agree that the one album was over hyped… like I say, I really like them. That being said, I agree with everything else you said.

@DragonFruit The fact that they imploded after one album made them even more authentic. A Ramones with fangs, that couldn't stay together.

@Human1000 Not saying it wasn't good, but no baseball player reached 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases faster than Darryl Strawberry.....he's not in the MLB Hall of Fame (and rightly so, even though I loved his talent) because he didn't stand up over time.

@DragonFruit It's about impact. The Sex Pistols had it. (Darryl Strawberry - drafted #1 overall. George Steinbrenner complained that the Mets were not some kind of geniuses for getting him. He was "no secret," Steinbrenner said. Darryl did bring a World Series title to the Mets but didn't have the long-term stats he should've had)

@graphite I will agree with that. The Sex Pistols impacted many punkish genre musicians (I know they did me,) well beyond their one album career. Arguments could be made for both. All I know, is I liked them and the did impact my style.

@DragonFruit Fair point. I think their impact is why they made it. I can’t imagine John Lydon giving a shit, except perhaps in an ironic way.
