Are you desensitised to the news...?

Recently I've seen articles I should be shocked over but I'm ashamed to say I didn't care. I just kept scrolling or carried on doing whatever else.
I feel like in the recent years I'm just losing care for 'the world' it seems like its full of crap!

Honestly, I think a lot of us have become desensitized here. People keep dying, but nothing changes. It’s heartbreaking, but half of those here love their guns more than the children they insist be born, not children they will personally take care of once they’re here, of course. My countrymen offer "thoughts and prayers", while hoping they or their loved ones aren’t in the line of fire next time it happens. And there’s always a next time.

Yeah IKR...

Two days ago my son came into my home office and announced "Today's mass shooting was in Virginia at a Wal-Mart" like it was just a normal everyday thing.

(sadly... Which it is living in America....)

Not really but I think you have to distance yourself also otherwise you fall into the abyss

It's self-preservation; you see terrible events every day. Sad when these things fail to shock you.

I was a bit back in March. Dying violently started looking like the new normal.

@CrazyMusicLover Yeah I know what you mean 😢 but we have to get in with it life.
’viva la life 👍. There’s no do overs I keep telling myself .

@SW-User It was surreal though. I've grown up in a safe, peaceful environment where these things were a matter of the past, just themes from movies and books, stories of grandparents you listen to with wide opened eyes. Suddenly as if all that got devalued, it has become daily reality very close by and you know there's nothing romantic about it, it's just life. You are alive or you are dead, you pack everything and leave and it's dog eats dog. Shit has come and you have to deal with it the best you can. Being emotional won't help you.

@CrazyMusicLover I know that safe environment reminiscing of the past etc and how you feel .🙁
Definitely innocence lost gone forever .
Cooler heads prevail, very true . Hugs my friend 🤗

Just that we have 24 hour news now. All the bad stuff

I don’t feel desensitized, but I do feel I’ve reached a state of acceptance that much of it is out of my control to influence or change. I want to spend this life doing what I can to make the world a better place, not upset/depressed about all the issues I cannot.

Don't bother with the news anymore.

I know exactly how you feel , its similar to becoming climatised to hot weather, after a while it doesent bother you so much. After what I've seen on the news from Ukraine it shocks me at how heartless Putin is ,is he human has he a family, if there is a hell he is bound for there .
Sars-2 back in 04 decenitized me to goofy Fauci and his WHO backpackers hitching a ride on the backs of the working class. History always repeats, mainly bc the "elites" use the same game plan of disinformation & distraction for millenniums now.

No, not even after working at a major TV network.

It has only gotten more frequent. There have been so many shootings lately it just becomes the same old. I numb out eventually

It's good to know the basics of what is happening in our world.

No. It's still a shock.
