Why do people waste their money on new things when they always have stuff that works?

I have an aunt that has the same hair blower for 25 years. She’s had it since 1997. I thought it would stop working by now. She is so smart for saving her money.
If people want to upgrade it or replace it, fine but I recommend to not do that because they’re just wasting their money.
My brother has the same laptop for 12 years and he still hasn’t bought a new one. Hey said he’s planning too when it stops working. One girl said she is planning to buy a new hair blower but keep the old one, but the one she has now is 15 years old and still works. She should keep it until it stops working. She shouldn’t be stupid by buying a new one.
