Anyone else been working on themselves as of late?

I've been putting more effort into getting into better shape. I've been seeing some small progress which is encouraging. I want to rejoin a judo dojo. I was judo captain in my highschool days. I continued in my 20s for a bit then stopped. I lost interest but want to try again.

Been trying to eat better and I'm trying to eat more homemade food instead of pre made.

Also been trying to cut my smoking down because anyone who knows me can tell you I smoke like a chimney.

I've been working on improving my health ever since menopause at 50. As soon as the hornes diminish, the metabolism slows down and becomes less efficient. It becomes too easy to slowly gain a kilo (2.2lbs) a year.
Now that I'm following Mosely's 2:5 diet -- for two days each week, semi fast, nutritious light breakfast and dinner only - 500 calories for the day day, 600 for men -- plus walking at 6 kph (vigorous) for half an hour a day. I find it works very well and pays far more benefits than one can imagine. One wet days, I put on some music and dance.
It does, however, take will power and about 6 weeks to get the new habits comfortably established.
The hardest part is feeling so hungry all the time. For this, I find the best remedies are drinking water or herbal tea, and keeping focused on something, whether it be reading, writing or land management.
It has made a huge difference. Most of my same age contemporaries have put on far more weight, and most are now experiencing serious health problems, with all the attendant pain, inconvenience and expenses.
I never smoked, but I've heard it's harder to break the addiction than heroin or ice. I guess if I was in you position and wanted to quit, I'd ask a doctor for advice on the best ways to do it.
Wishing you success. :)
