To what extent do you believe those with significant wealth and power are held to the standard of law the rest of us are held to?

I look at the bail or bond a wealthy person can afford and say not at all. If you can kill someone and be walking around free because you have the money to post bond---or receive the option of bail in the first place, rather than automatic remand---that's an advantage over poorer people. Moreover, the better counsel you can afford, the shorter sentence if you're found guilty. And the less likely you are to be found guilty. And where it applies, the death penalty is likely to be off the table completely. It's an entirely different ballgame, so to speak.
