Some man approached me and scared the crap outta me! What’s he wrong?

I was going to the store to buy breakfast but some random guys push approached behind me and said, “Yo beautiful you play some b-ball?” That startled me and I just gave him a look. He asked me again, “You play basketball? I mean I’m about 6’2” so I’m guessing you gotta be about 6’0”. I jus shook my head No and moved on. That was no way to approach a young woman. He looked like he was 37 maybe and I’m only 19.
What do you guys think?
I should have told him off but I didn’t want to make a scene.

Be careful who you “tell off.” There are so many criminals let loose on our streets, and so many whack jobs that you never know who you are dealing with. Just do what you did ... remain polite, but distant. He asked you a question, you responded “no.” That’s all you have to do. No encouragement, no engaging in further conversation, and get away as soon as possible.
