Why do the older people at work treat me nicely while those my age either ignore me or treat me like im an idiot?

While not always the case, with old age comes wisdom and with that, the ability to empathize and treat others with respect. Again, not always the case, but it seems like it in yours. Thank goodness! Wish people your age could be a bit friendlier though. Maybe you just haven’t found the right ones.
