Why do some people get upset when they get told to put their phones away?
When we have meal time, we weren’t allowed to have phones, games or nothing. Our dad was and still strict about it and we communicate with one another.
My cousin and her husband has the rule no iPads, tablets, phones or anything at the table and it’s disrespectful. She said people are too glued on their phones and lost the true meaning of communication and taking face to face. She has four kids (ages 16, 14 and two 11 year old twins. and she saw them in their phones and she said, “Seriously guys? I’m going to start taking your phones away! Put them away. NOW!!” They quickly put it in the basket. They looked annoyed and pissed. Her husband said they better start listening and kids and teens are too glued to their phones and electronics. My cousin and her husband grew up in the 80s and 90 so they know wife without social media and phones. I do too and I grew up in the late 90s and 2000s (born in 1994). Honestly I like that rule because when I have a place on my own I’m gonna have the same rule no phones at the dinner table. COMMUNICATE PEOPLE!
Once I’m at work there was like this coworker and she’s like 18 if she was on her phone texting her friends and playing a game. We’re trying to get the kids ready for rotations and I told her, “Excuse me. You shouldn’t be on your phone while we are at work. I guess your phone is way more important than the lives and safety of these kids. She put her phone away but she did not look happy and gave me an annoyed look. I don’t care if she was upset she needed to do her job.
