My late dad said he’s so disappointed to have a daughter that has no self respect for herself?

He did so many things to help me but I just won’t do anything about it. He called me weak because I let my male cousins push me around and talk to me any way. He said, “AT least your sister is woman enough to stand up for herself. She isn’t a pushover and stand up for herself. That’s a strong woman. A strong young doesn’t let anybody push her around. A STRONG man likes STRONG women and you’re NOT strong. You need to quit being so WEAK! You’re weak. You must love people treating you this way. You’re too nice no it bothers me.
Those were the most hurtful words he’s ever said to me and he got in my face. He would get frustrated when I cry when people don’t respect me but I don’t do anything about it. I still get out of my head that he called me weak. I miss him but he was so brutally honest.
I’m autistic but he doesn’t care and he once told me if I can’t handle him yelling at me to see the bigger picture, then I’m not ready for the world that doesn’t care about my feelings. They’re a people meaner than him.

I hate to say it but you may need a new and better father.

Do you have someone in the family to protect you from his destructive conduct? If not can you please ask him to help protect you from those pushing you around rather than helping them?

@Heartlander he passed in March. Still heartbroken about it but he was a huge jerk at times.

Oh, I'm so sorry that I missed the "late" word. I can imagine the mix of grief and lingering reaction to his misconduct. It's horrible when the persons you most need while growing up are the ones that let you down and steal your happiness.
