My late dad said he’s so disappointed to have a daughter that has no self respect for herself?

He did so many things to help me but I just won’t do anything about it. He called me weak because I let my male cousins push me around and talk to me any way. He said, “AT least your sister is woman enough to stand up for herself. She isn’t a pushover and stand up for herself. That’s a strong woman. A strong young doesn’t let anybody push her around. A STRONG man likes STRONG women and you’re NOT strong. You need to quit being so WEAK! You’re weak. You must love people treating you this way. You’re too nice no it bothers me.
Those were the most hurtful words he’s ever said to me and he got in my face. He would get frustrated when I cry when people don’t respect me but I don’t do anything about it. I still get out of my head that he called me weak. I miss him but he was so brutally honest.
I’m autistic but he doesn’t care and he once told me if I can’t handle him yelling at me to see the bigger picture, then I’m not ready for the world that doesn’t care about my feelings. They’re a people meaner than him.

That is so tragic. It's he who has the problems though, not you.

I knew a couple whose son, now in his early-twenties, is autistic.

The wife's parents were always fine about it.

The husband's parents and brother were so incapable of understanding it that although they doted on the grandson, they did all they could to cut off contact with the couple themselves, and blamed her for the child's autism as if it were all her fault.
