I find some people talk so fast. Especially when they work in industries like sales, sometimes those that speak another language, hyperactive tendencies...

I find it so difficult to converse with a person like that as I'm rather steady.
They can often think and say a word they think, I'm going to say to get to the end of my sentence faster.

Rude!

I find I try to be considerate of slower talkers as they may be struggling or a little shy.

It can change dramatically. When I'm excited/anxious I can talk so fast I nearly stutter, I hurl words out because I just want talking to be over or I'm just overly excited and overwhelmed by emotions. When I am unused to talk, depressed or just slowed down in general, I talk slowly, monotonously and often trail away mid-sentence or can't even find the expression for something I want to name. There are times when I nearly wish I were mute because I don't want to talk at all so badly.

I am doing some amateur research into the middle ages . Evidence suggests that people spoke much slower then. So when we read of a sermon lasting two hours, a modern day priest could crack it off in 20 minutes .

I'm an extremely slow talker. I get on peoples' nerves because I talk so slowly. I think before I speak, that's why. I almost never say "Errmmm..." or "Hmmmmmm". 😏
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@helenS I don't think that's a bad thing. But if I was in a hurry, I may ask you to "hold that thought"

i use telepathy mainly .. to screw up people's brain neurons ..
They suddenly think i'm talking very fast when i'm just smiling, slowly messing up their brain juice

Gangstress · 41-45, F
Im a really quick talker lol. But i do tend to slow down coz of my accent. I consider who im talking to and then adapt that way.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Gangstress you're talking speed is fine.. Lol I can understand ya

I think probably steady, though I don't talk that much at all 😆
SW-User
@Mellowgirl Not much to say a lot of the time, and lack of opportunity.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@SW-User plenty of opportunity here... 😊
SW-User
@Mellowgirl I know, must try harder 😆
SW-User
I talk fast due to anxiety and I try my best to slow down.
helenS · 36-40, F
@SW-User Construct the sentence in your mind before saying it.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@helenS agreed

In German, I speak fast. But when I speak English it's a little slower because I'm careful.
Lostpoet · M
Depends on the conversation and how much coffee I've had.

It is even worse if they happen to be doctors or lawyers
SW-User
Mostly a fast rhythmic , it’s a cultural thing 😀
Medium to slow with lots of pause.

I work 3 jobs I'm super high stress and I am a very fast thinker and a very fast talker which comes from my OCD tendencies and my work ethic of just getting everything done, said,fixed addressed immediately.
I am capable of speaking very slowly in my more contemplative moments and I do try to be considerate of those who speak slowly
