So, I've got a weird dilemma.

Mom and I bought my dad a power lift chair from Craigslist Saturday. The box in which it was still sealed didn't have a brand name anywhere, just a serial number. I searched the internet for any information pertaining to that specific serial number, and it's like it doesn't exist.

But we bought it anyway.

Got the damn thing home, and we barely had the energy to get it into the garage to make sure it didn't get rained on. Figured we'd get a fresh start on it in the morning.

Yesterday, I got up, and we opened up the boxes and assembled the thing, even though there were no instructions contained in the box at all. I mean there's only so many ways you can put together a chair, right?

The trouble is, while this chair has all the necessary parts to lift up so my dad doesn't have to pick himself up, the controller included with the chair doesn't have a lift button.

Again, we took to the internet to figure out what to do about it. And again, it's like the particular chair doesn't exist.

My dad thinks I should contact the lady we bought it from, and ask her what company she originally ordered the chair through. Since, as I say, there's no brand name on the stupid thing, I'm pretty sure I'm ready to do that.

Any other thoughts?

See if insurance can help with a new one. Have his Dr “prescribe” him one..
@Quetzalcoatlus I like that idea, but what are we going to do with the one that's in the house? It has the necessary mechanisms, as I said, but the controller is missing the key button.
Update: I have since found the controls that make the chair go up and down. Thanks to all of you who rushed in with advice.
