Should I buy a coworker I dont really talk to a grieving gift?

There was a terrible, hate crime - related shooting that resulted in the death of her family member (alongside other familes, double digit death toll)

Obviously she isnt doing well, so I've heard.

Is it appropriate to get her flowers, card, and bag of hersbye kiss chocolate? If so what shpuld I write in the card?

It depends on her personality honestly.

If I were going through that & somebody tried to give me a card or chocolate I'd be kinda bothered 😬

But maybe I'm weird. I'd just be thinking "this ain't a damn celebration or a "get well soon" situation. Let me grieve

@bijouxbroussard I mean like, I wouldn't be angry.. but the card would probably make me feel everything & I would be upset. I don't like showing when I'm upset so I wouldn't really know what to say. I'd just be thinking in my head "why would you give me this? 😣"

@ChiefJustWalks I suppose it might be awkward, if it were someone who wasn’t a friend.
I’ve done it in that situation, just to let the person know that I cared.
But I’ve also been on the other side, and while there’s nothing anyone can say at the time that helps—not even from loved ones—once I was myself again, I did remember who reached out.

@bijouxbroussard yeah I feel like I would appreciate it in the long run probably but in the moment I'd feel so watched & idk I'm just weird about sympathy lol. I was on the news once when my first house burned down.. you could see me in the background yelling at the rest of the news crews to get tf away because I was so pissed off. That was slightly different but yeah 😅 I was mad because in my head they don't know & they don't give a shit. People just love a sad story
