Star your day right

I believe the world is a better place because dedicated monks exist.

If you feel things are bad we could always be worst.

Dedicated monks help lay Buddhists keep focused.

Even for us quasi Buddhists it's a breath of fresh air to see men dedicated to love and kindness.

Undoubtedly there are genuine monks dedicated to their calling, but did you know that many are pushed into Buddhism by their families? Not all monks want to be a monk. It’s just something they do. There is a certain prestige in some cultures to have your son be a Buddhist monk.

@Carissimi hmm 🤔 that's interesting, it's kind of contradictory for families that esteem Buddhism to force their children into it. Buddhism is not about force it's about respecting others thoughts, choices and actions so long as they are not harmful to themselves and humanity.

When others engage in harmful behavior as Buddhists we set the example by our behavior and give advice or encourage different behavior but never force someone against their will to do something they don't want to do.

We may intervene but always in a non violent way. Peace is the Buddhist motto.

True, but it still happens. That’s why you see all these small boys going to Buddhist training school. I’m sure they would rather be playing like normal children. @dark548

@Carissimi hmm I see 🤔 perhaps it is the parents wanting their children to learn and grow up with good buddhist values. The children may not like it just like many children don't like school but the parents do it for the children future benefit. The good thing though as far as I'm aware is that once they grow up they can always chose not to be a monk anymore I mean as long as their family doesn't continue pressuring them. A good buddhist family would understand their adult choice.
