Today has been the worst day of my life. My car is ruined, im in pain and i wish i died in the wreck.

I was coming home from work this car pulled out in front of me like I wasn't there. I tried braking as best I could but I ended up hitting them in the side. What sucks is that I was going about 45mph before braking so I hit hard. My front end is destroyed. Completely ruined and I'm getting a ticket supposedly. I refused the medics because I can't afford it I dont have insurance right now.

My head feels airy. The airbag hit me in the right side of my upper chest and that hurts and there is a bruise forming and my right knee aches. Also having some issues breathing but what can I do.

At least the cop was nice to me.

That's awful to hear, but the worst thing is that you can't get medical treatment without having to pay. The breathing issue sounds like it needs to be checked out.

@SW-User Yeah it's great to be american. Without insurance that bill will be enormous especially with an ambulance ride
SW-User
@SW-User Gosh i didn't know that. Here when you get your car registered there's compulsory insurance included that covers all that, even without our public health system to fall back on.

@SW-User Yeah and my insurance cost is going to rise high. It's already high in detroit as is now it's going to really get high. Happened back in 2011 to me when I got in an accident in my car. Luckily my door was just dented then by someone running a stop sign and turning out into a lane i was already in.

@SW-User I had a friend living in NYC a few years ago who told me that over half their income went into insurances. It sounds like a struggle if you're on a low to medium income
SW-User
@SW-User Your friend isn't wrong. Insurance is a huge money drainer. When I had health insurance it was taken from my check which made my paychecks smaller. Car insurance was a money sucker. House insurance too.

@SW-User One of the best aspects of the public health system here is that it keeps private health insurance costs lower for those who want and can afford the premium cover, because they know if they put them up higher than necessary people will ditch it for the public system. But if our government ever gets rid of the public system which we all pay for anyway, then we too will be all paying half our income in premiums.

@SW-User God just hearing how other countries are with their healthcare system makes the usa sound like a backwards hillbilly country more and more. I wish we could have low cost or free healthcare for all
SW-User
@SW-User The public healthcare system is paid for by everyone with a job who pays tax, and it works out to be around 2% for higher income earners and less for lower. So i'm on about 40k a year at the moment and pay $600 a year to cover any hospital and doctors visits. Ambulance insurance is separate at about $60 per year and dental is not included so that's an expense worn by everyone. I understand some are upset about paying 2%, but if i can pay it easily i don't know why those wealthier have a problem. Overall it's a great system even with some flaws.
@SW-User @SW-User Here's a comparison of total per capita health care spending in a bunch of developed countries. The US is truly an outlier.
