Haha my daughter used to turn around in restaurants (Hardees) and stare at people when they were eating so I started taking her to sit on the little side table booths that were on the wall near the bathroom, used mostly by employees. One time I saw 4 men dressed in silk suits sitting at the next table and thought it was weird because it was mostly blue collar or students that frequented Hardees. Then i thought maybe they were some executives for Hardees and had come to check on the restaurant (Headquarters used to be here). I noticed one of the men give a signal wiping his lip for the other men not to talk. So I pretended to feed my daughter fries and asked her how they tasted while listening. Apparently 3 of the men were telling the one who wiped his lip that he had to do another assignment. He says “ I am trying to get out”. They sat there and stared at him then finally said “You have till Monday to complete an assignment”. And all of them got up and left, no food or drinks had been consumed. Drug traffickers. The man who wiped his lip was a neighbor who lived two houses away in our rural area. He worked at a bank as a loan officer and later became VP after purchasing a fake master’s degree in banking. His wife divorced him a couple years later saying he was flying to South America every weekend in the plane that he had purchased and she got the home, the acreage, the horses, the Mercedes, the children and alimony & child support.

@cherokeepatti [c=800000]So, he passed part of his assignment, thereby saving his life, but failed the other part, losing his wife?
(I did not intend to wax poetic when stating my assumption.) [/c]

@ProfessorPlum77 Lost his family, right. I imagine his bank job helped him launder the money he made from his assignments. Imagine working at a bank and flying to South America every weekend in a small plane and hauling dope into the country. As far as I know he never got caught. But after the oil boom was over he wanted to “invest” in building a water park at the lake and he got turned down, they didn’t think it was environmentally good to have one there. He invested in a big real estate-building company instead. His wife said he was flying to South America every weekend, she didn’t exactly keep it quiet.

@ProfessorPlum77 Later like a year or more I told my ex about what I witnessed, didn’t tell him it was the neighbor though. It was after we were watching a tv show with a very similar scene.

@ProfessorPlum77 you know I am not a very worldly person and learned this from my own experience. The fact that 4 men wearing silk suits were sitting in a booth at Hardees was my first clue. About 10 years before this there was a bridge over a river that partially collapsed due to a car accident. It was one of those old bridges with a single lane for tires to go over boards, always scared me to drive over it. The farmer who lived next to the bridge watched a man wearing a silk suit who was involved in the accident get out of his Mercedes and get a briefcase and hide it in weeds a short distance from the accident. He told the police and they went and checked and found money & drugs in it, apparently the man was a drug trafficker. Anyway the case against him went to court and the police officer was 15 minutes late getting back to the courtroom due to witnessing an auto accident at lunch and having to take care of that. When he got back to the trial the judge asked him why he was late and he told him. Then the judge threw the case out of court….true story and people here were very angry at the judge for using that as an excuse. Everyone believed the judge got bribed.

@cherokeepatti Wow! If so, that is very sad. Maybe he was given a choice: Take a bribe and live, or refuse it and die.

@ProfessorPlum77 I don’t know but the police were upset with it because it was a strong case. After the incident at the Hardee’s I have wondered just how many “upstanding” people in this city were corrupt and involved with trafficking in some way. The farmer was also angry because he was set to testify and knew it was a dangerous thing for him. Oh yeah during this era a woman’s body was found face down on a river road next to his property with her brains shot out. Apparently she had found out that her boyfriend was trafficking and they decided to neutralize any threat before she could tell
