I have quite difficult relationship with my parents but I'd never "leave" them.

I’m currently helping my mom out after my dad passed away. I was there for him as well. The thing of it is, though, that I didn’t start a family of my own. When people go and have their own children, their focus and energy is on the family they created. That’s how it goes. Really, it’s how it should be. Yes, it’d be nice if they took care of their elderly parents as well, but they’re adults. They’d survived to that point. Some of them do need help, but overall they aren’t helpless. “Getting old isn’t for sissies,” I’ve heard plenty of them say.

Every old person was young once, they all know that life gets in the way, if someone has to constantly cater to their parents all the time they will get nowhere in life
It's a sad story,we need to reciprocate their feelings ,and be a provider for them in their old age .
That's the law of karma .
