It is a sad fact that many times the elderly are or feel forgotten; sometimes by friends and/or family and so they become marginalized in society. Some other cultures in Asia and Africa revere the elderly. Thank you for posting this important message. God bless.

I’m thinking that it happens. It happened to my dad when everyone got tired of his meanness. I listened to a lot of people expressing that at the last job I’d worked. It was heartbreaking sometimes. I’m also reminded of a woman I’d randomly encountered at the mall who told me about her daughter cutting ties with her, and she didn’t know why (I listened to her for five minutes and all the little negative jabs she got in about people she didn’t even know during that time told me a possible reason why her daughter stopped talking to her). It just happens.

That’s so sad. They probably don’t call until they want something, and after they get it, they disappear.

Some don't call unless there is food, gifts or money for them.

I wonder what values people raise their children with, by example.

Or is it that no matter what, people are generally just too selfish now to bother with elderly parents?
