No, not in the least. But I was curious. I work in LE and the dept is investigating a case where a woman was catfished for 5 years by someone she met on line. Just seemed rather silly to me that people trust so easily. To even exchange phone numbers with someone you met on an anonymous social media site seems risky. People can be whoever they want on line

Sure. But people can also con and trick people in real life. It's eaiser to do so online, but... everyone is on the internet now, right? Most people you meet will be fine. Some will not. So all we can do is be cautious but still try to work with society. If we assume everyone we meet online is out to get us, we're going to be a paranoid, reclusive mess.

I'm neutral in this as I simply asked for opinions on trusting others here (online) I can only comment or add to the discussion based on my own experiences, which so far have been a positive one. Because I exercise extreme caution with my interactions.
I have seen the opposite, as in the case I just described and in stories posted here. It may be different for men. But over all, I believe women should always error on the side of caution when it comes to on line anything.
