That all depends on what you mean by "believe in."
If for you, belief is just a matter of being factual, then you are missing out on the entire poetic side of life.
For example, I believe in "Beauty and the Beast." I believe that often, someone needs to be loved before they become loveable. And there is evidence for this: many "troubled youth" who turned their lives around when they found somebody who cared about them and believed in them.
