If someone called you a 'Yankee' would you consider it a compliment or an insult ?

I guess it would depend who said it, and in what tone of voice.

I'd be confused :/

I'm English xD

It depends on their intent when saying it. If they're using it as a slur to start conflict then of course I'm going to take it as such but outside of that it would simply be associating me with my heritage in the place I was born..

depends on who it came from and where they came from. mostly it'd tell me something about them. and what they know or think they know about me.

Well let's just confirm it is intended as an insult

@pinkrainbowkisses: perhaps being scottish/in the UK he'd consider it someone calling him an american and he finds that insulting.
@malcontent: Oh, I don't get the whole 'yankee' thing and I'm American. It doesn't even sound insulting. 😆

@pinkrainbowkisses: I sort of do. I'm american as well (actually I think I neighbor your state), but I know some people from other countries are insulted if you think they're american.

@Quoththeraven: Think so :)
Because we had to go down south and yank the rebels out of the trees to fight.

@Quoththeraven: 😬
sticks and stones may break my bones.. but names will make me retreat to my safe space to play with my barbie dolls

I would consider it a joke.

Compliment....how offended would you be to be mistaken for & called a Yankee? Be honest now...🤔

An insult. I'm neither a yanker or the Yankee. I mean how would like it if someone called you a ....

Huh? It means what? ..... You're kidding. Really? Then it doesn't mean ...? ... Oh, dear.. how embarrassing.

Er... Um... I'd consider it a complaint.
I wouldn't really care tbh.. I've been called way worse so I welcome 'Yankee' any day of the week. 😂

An insult but I am British so I don't really care
In the U.S. it's the term southerners call northerners, so it would make no sense.

I don't really know how I would take it, as it wouldn't make any sense to me. My reaction would be more that the person calling me a yankee is kind of dumb, to be honest.
