So when the boneheads who wrote what later became the bible were pottering about the place, it was when the Roman empire was in charge, and there was this Emperor by the name of Nero who after a massive fire in the capitol city of Rome, needed a scapegoat and so he went after this newly formed cult that had come out of Judaism called Christianity. He went after the Christians because they were preaching all kinds of strange nonsense about the end of the world and being judged and there only being one god. This was all rather strange and new, since humans had been polytheists, mostly, up until this point. So!!! The Christians believed that with the Romans coming after them that they were in end times, and so they go to prophesying about these 'end times' would involve. One of which was a 'World Order!!!', or a single power that ruled the world and of an anti-Christ who was in charge of it, who'd bring about the end of time. They think this antichrist may have been referring to Nero, who was out to get them. Now the end of times never happened, but the prophesies they came up with were kicked around for a bit over the next few centuries and found their way into the bible, and were bunged into a part of the bible called revelations. And in these 'REVELATIONS!!! OHHH SCARY!!!' it talks about a world order run by the antichrist, and boneheads throughout the following centuries since Christianity become a big hit, have been talking about a 'Scary new world order!!!' that's going to take over, that is run by the antichrist and what is going to bring about the end of days.

@Wiseacre Well, they've been going on about it for a good while now and the world is still here. Personally I could see some benefits to a single world government, I've been a fan of nationalism.
