Being made an example because you see and do things differently

Yeah...that used to happen at a large health insurance company when I worked there. It used to make me upset when certain people would hog little computer shortcuts to themselves so they would get promoted.

I was a little bit of an outlaw, so I went over and stood next to this guy's desk once, when he was out for a few minutes, and actually copied his shortcuts from his sticky notes on his computer. THEN I went around to everyone on my team and handed out the shortcut to ALL of them. THEN I won a writing contest...and a chili making contest...and THEN I was put up for promotion. I didn't make supervisor at that time, but I collected a lot of jealous people who worked actively to sabotage me.

I got called up to one woman's office upstairs, and I VERY passionately defended my decision to pay a stack of claims for one family. I fought. I never just laid down.
