Would you give somebody a birthday gift just to be polite?

When I was in 4th grade my sister and I were forced to go to my aunt’s bosses daughter’s birthday party and she was a little spoiled brat. She wouldn’t even thank anyone for their gifts and her mother was trying to tell her to do that and she still refused. I never went to anyone else’s birthday if I couldn’t stand to be around them.
