Why do people give us autistic people such a hard time?

We can’t help the way we are OK? So sick and tired of people yelling at us! Stop yelling at us it’s not gonna help us improve! One of my neighbors yelled at me today because I didn’t hear him right away. I told him not to yell at me and he said, “Well if you would have actually have been LISTENING and not wondering around, I wouldn’t have yelled at you!!! I hate repeating myself and you just frustrate me so much! LISTEN TO WHAT IM SAYING DAMN IT!!” I just walked away, then ran into my room crying.
He is my elderly neighbor’s son and he’s not very nice to me. He’s never been nice to me at all and whenever we come over he always gives me this nasty look when I try to be nice.

Sorry that he was rude. People can be very offended when people walk away when they are talking. Autistic people can learn good communication too, live and learn. You can write him a note explaining that you have autism and its difficult to know what to do in social situations, and sorry for upsetting him.(In general when ever you see a person you know, then smile and say "hi how are you?", and if they talk stand and look at them and hear them out. And then after a few minutes say, "sorry but I have to run, I'll talk to you later" and then leave")

Do not let people walk over you. Make your point clear and focus on yourself. :)

@SW-User I just got up to him I told him he did not have the yell at me like that. But he said it’s my fault for not listening so he had no choice but to yell at me. That’s why I never like going to my elderly neighbors house no offense because of him. Why would a middle-age man be nasty to a 18-year-old young woman?

@LaylaTheTallGirl Nevermind him. Just do what you are supposed to.
